Indian doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty claimed the All England Open Badminton Championships title in Birmingham, becoming the first Indian men doubles pair to win the most prestigious title in the sport since its founding in 1899. The world number one pair defeated Chinese pair Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi 21-14, 18-21, 21-16 in a final lasting one hour and 28 minutes. The win adds the All England title to a collection that already includes two World Championship gold medals and an Olympic bronze. The duo dedicated their victory to their coach Mathias Boe and expressed hope that the win would inspire a new generation of Indian shuttlers to take up doubles.
