Rohit Sharma retires from all international cricket at 38, having amassed 10,000+ runs in two formats and won two ICC trophies as captain.
Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket at a press conference in Mumbai, bringing to a close a 17-year career in which he became one of the most prolific batters in the history of the sport. The 38-year-old leaves with 10,709 Test runs, 10,709 ODI runs, and 4,611 T20I runs — the only player in history to have crossed 10,000 runs in two formats. As captain, Rohit led India to the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, and three consecutive Asia Cups. He departs as the highest scorer in T20 International cricket history and the holder of three individual ODI scores of 200 or more. The BCCI announced that the Wankhede Stadium opening stand will be named the Rohit Sharma End in his honour.
