Waymo expands its driverless robotaxi service to 12 US cities with a fleet growing to 3,000 vehicles by end of 2026.
Waymo, the autonomous vehicle subsidiary of Alphabet, announced a major expansion of its fully driverless commercial robotaxi service to 12 additional US cities over 2025 and 2026, following profitable operations in San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. The new cities include Austin, Chicago, Miami, Nashville, Denver, and seven others across the Sun Belt and Midwest. Waymo 6th generation Jaguar I-PACE robotaxi fleet will expand from its current 700 vehicles to over 3,000 vehicles by the end of 2026. The company reported it has completed over 10 million commercial robotaxi trips with zero at-fault serious accidents, a safety record that regulators have cited as justification for accelerated licensing. Waymo has also opened discussions with Tata Motors about manufacturing vehicle platforms in India for a potential future Asia expansion.
