Tata Motors unveiled its next-generation all-electric vehicle platform, Avinya, at a global launch event in Mumbai that drew automotive journalists from 40 countries. The platform features a proprietary solid-state battery pack with a certified range of 600 kilometres and a 10-minute ultra-fast charging capability from 10% to 80% using 500 kW chargers. The first production vehicle on the Avinya platform, the Avinya SUV, will go on sale in India in Q1 2026 at an anticipated price of Rs 22 lakh, positioning it as the most affordable long-range EV in the Indian market. The platform uses a skateboard architecture compatible with sedans, SUVs, and MPVs, with international markets including the UK and Germany confirmed for launches by 2027. Tata Motors CEO Shailesh Chandra said Avinya will manufacture entirely in India with 85% localisation from day one.
