Baseball's Historic MVP Achievement

According to STATS Perform, only once previously has two players who were already three-time MVPs each hit two home runs during a game.

California Ski Season Is Enhanced by Spring Storms

Following a significant spring snowstorm, a California ski resort extends its season. MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. (AP) — In California's eastern Sierra Nevada, a spring storm dumped more than 3.5 feet (1 meter) of snow, temporarily blocking a major freeway and prolonging Mammoth Mountain's ski season. Only a few weeks had passed since a heat wave in March destroyed most of California's snow, forcing the closure of numerous ski resorts. There could be more snow on Monday. According to a reading taken in the mountains close to Lake Tahoe on April 1, the Sierra snowpack, which supplies one-third of California's water, was only 18% of typical. It was the second-lowest score ever recorded for that date. Between Friday and Sunday, the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab recorded 42.5 inches (53.5 cm), which "has been great to create a late-season snowpack." The lab posted on social media, "Unfortunately, record warm temperatures this winter mean that we're still well below average for the water year."

Impact of the Weather and Travel Interruptions

Due to blizzard conditions, Interstate 80 in Northern California was closed on Sunday. Early on Monday, chain restrictions were implemented for the crucial highway between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. Strong gusts, a lot of rain, and hail were also brought to numerous places by the storm. According to the National Weather Service, a tornado made landfall close to Sacramento on Sunday, but no damage was reported. Eleven lifts were operating on Monday, according to Mammoth Mountain. The resort stated in its daily report that although the skies were clearing, a few more inches (5 centimeters) of snow could yet fall. "Hazards like dirt, boulders, and plants linger just below the surface, even if fresh snow may appear pleasant. Use caution when riding and skiing, and stay off the path, according to the study.

Drought Issues and Their Wider Effects

After a warm winter with unfavorable skiing conditions gave way to early spring record temperatures, snow was disappearing throughout much of the U.S. West. Colorado recorded its worst snowpack since the state started keeping records in 1941 this month. Unless there is an unanticipated flood, officials cautioned that the data are a strong indication that water scarcity could exacerbate the current severe drought. Ranchers are concerned about how they will feed and water their cattle as local cities impose restrictions on water use. Devastating wildfires are a real concern.
