On the 9th, former Minister of Economic Security of the Liberal Democratic Party, Takayuki Kobayashi, criticized Prime Minister Ishiba (party president) for his decision to postpone raising the upper limit of the self-payment amount from August under the "High-Cost Medical Care Expenses System," which aims to reduce the burden on patients when medical expenses become high, saying, "Policy decision-making has changed several times."

Speaking to reporters after the party convention, Kobayashi said, "We need to go back to basics and conduct a careful internal party process and explain things to the public." The government has corrected course three times in response to criticism from the opposition parties and patient groups.
In addition, in her speech at the party convention, Rengo Chairwoman Yoshino Tomoko called for the introduction of a system that allows married couples to choose their own surnames. Former Environment Minister Koizumi Shinjiro argued that "party discipline should not be imposed" on the vote on related bills.
