A powerful tornado caused widespread damage in Enid but left no fatalities.

<p><strong>Tornado Causes Widespread Damage in Enid</strong> A powerful tornado tore through parts of Enid, causing significant damage to homes, infrastructure and neighborhoods. The storm, confirmed by the National Weather Service, ripped roofs off buildings, flattened houses and knocked down power poles as it moved near Vance Air Force Base.</p>


<p><strong>Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts</strong> Emergency crews responded quickly, going door-to-door in affected areas to check on residents and assist those trapped by debris. Despite the extensive destruction, authorities, including the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, reported no fatalities and only minor injuries in the immediate aftermath.</p>


<p><strong>Severe Damage in Residential Areas</strong> Some of the worst destruction occurred in the Gray Ridge neighborhood, where several homes were reduced to rubble. Residents described frightening moments as the tornado struck, with one mother recalling how her daughter took shelter in a bathtub just before the roof of their home was torn away.</p>


<p><strong>Impact on Vance Air Force Base</strong> The storm also caused damage at Vance Air Force Base, where fences and equipment were knocked down. The base was temporarily closed while crews worked to restore power and water services.</p>


<p><strong>Officials Urge Support</strong> Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt called for support for the affected community, urging people to keep those impacted in their thoughts as recovery efforts begin.</p>


<p><strong>Wider Storm Impact</strong> Severe weather extended beyond Oklahoma, with storms also damaging homes and blocking roads in Kearney. Cleanup efforts were underway there as well, though no injuries were reported.</p>
