India opens the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat, the world largest hybrid clean energy facility at 34 GW total capacity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat Rann of Kutch region, the world largest hybrid renewable energy facility spanning 72,600 hectares — roughly the size of Singapore. The park, developed by Adani Green Energy, combines 26 gigawatts of solar photovoltaic capacity with 8 gigawatts of wind power, making it the single largest clean energy installation on Earth. High-voltage direct current transmission lines carry power from the park to consumption centres across eight states. The project displaced no agricultural land or population as it occupies barren salt desert terrain. Gujarat Chief Minister stated that Khavda alone will supply power to 16 million homes and reduce India annual carbon dioxide emissions by 58 million tonnes once fully operational in 2026.
