<p>A powerful storm system spawning multiple tornadoes tore through northern Texas, killing at least two people and causing widespread destruction across several communities.</p><p>The hardest-hit areas included Runaway Bay and Springtown, where homes were heavily damaged and families were displaced. Local officials said at least 20 families lost their homes or were forced to leave due to the destruction.</p><p>Emergency crews faced major challenges reaching affected areas because of blocked roads and downed power lines. Despite that, responders continued working through debris to assist injured residents and search damaged properties.</p><p>The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-2 tornado with winds up to 135 mph struck near Runaway Bay, while an EF-1 tornado with winds reaching 105 mph hit the Springtown area. The storm system, described as a slow-moving supercell, swept through late Saturday night.</p><p>The severe weather also caused widespread power outages and significant infrastructure damage, complicating recovery efforts. Authorities warned that access to some neighborhoods remained difficult as cleanup operations continued.</p><p>The storm tracked southeast from near Wichita Falls, passing west of Fort Worth, and prompting alerts for a potentially large and dangerous tornado near Azle.</p><p>Officials continue to assess the damage as communities begin recovery from the deadly storms.</p>
